Classes at Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art



The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art in Virginia Beach has beginning,
intermediate and advanced wheel and handbuilding ceramics classes. Next session
starts in mid-July. CDA member Anna Freeman will be teaching a saggar firing
workshop on August 3rd and 4th.

Intro to Wheel-Throwing
Instructed by Barbara Mann

July 8–August 26 (8 weeks)
Mondays, 6:00–9:00 p.m.

Beginner and intermediate potters will enjoy wheel-throwing
functional forms such as bowls, cups, plates, jars, and mugs.
Experiment with glazing techniques and bring home beautiful
hand-made pieces.

Beginner and intermediate potters will learn basic wheel-throwing and handbuilding
skills to create functional forms. Begin by learning handbuilding techniques such as coil
and slab building then move on to creating forms such as bowls, cups, and mugs on the
potters wheel. Learn about glazing techniques and bring home functional pottery.

TILE MAKING & DECORATING
Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts
Instructor: Harriette Laskin
Various tile making methods will be explored: pressing,
stamping, carving and cavity molds.
Six-Week Class: June 25-July 30, 2019
Tuesdays 10:00am-12:30pm or 6:00pm-8:30pm
